Members and spouses after hosting a pizza night at the Ronald MacDonald House.
Congratulations to Brandon and Shusuke, two new Master Masons.
It is with tremendous sadness that we report the passing of our dear friend and brother, WB Art Shipe.
The annual installation of officers was held on Friday, December 5. This year's installation was open, and the dining room was packed with members and guests. Socializing started about 6pm, and the next hour and a half was spent enjoying an elegant dinner provided by the incoming Worshipful Master's wife, Lesley. There were holiday decorations, lights, and some imaginative and appropriate table details.
The lodge is indebted to the installing team, MWB Chuck McQuery was the installing Master, MWB Gale Kenney Chaplain, VWB Coe Tug Morgan Secretary, and VWV Mike Cuadra as Marshall. Our master of ceremonies was WB Gene Budbill, a past master of University #141 who has been helping us out in quite a few capacities.
On Saturday, September 20, 2014, our brother J. Warren Roundhill was awarded the highest decoration bestowed by the French government. He was made a Chevalier de l'Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur.
After being dark all summer, we resume labor in a meeting on Friday, September 5. The Friiday meeting is due to the first Monday falling on Labor day. Dress will be casual, meaning slacks and an open collar shirt are fine-- no shorts! We will open the doors at 6:00 for a social hour and dinner and will open lodge at 7:30. For prospective members that we met at the street fair or Freemont fair, this is a great chance to come visit and meet the members.
The next 6 weeks will be busy ones for the University Lodge degree team. On August 23, 2014, we will take two of our EAs up to Shoreline Lodge to receive their Fellowcraft Degree. They will open lodge at 10am, and Senior Warden Dan Boren will give the Middle Chamber lecture. Then, on August 30, we will raise one new Master Mason in our own lodge room beginning at 1pm. FInally, on September 20, will raise two more Master Masons, with the degree also beginning at 1pm. For all degrees, Master Masons only except for Fellowcrafts appropriately excorted for the FC degree.
The 3rd annual University Lodge Veterans Day program took place on Friday, November 8. This year, veterans who served in Vietnam were particularly honored. We were pleased to hear from 3 men who served in the First Aviation Brigade, who all retired as Lt. Colonels, and who also happen to be either current or past district 5 deputies of the Grand Master. Pictured here are our three speakers together with the Master of the lodge.
And they're not afraid to get 'em dirty helping others.
If you think helping others is important, why not take a look at one of our favorite partners in the UW community, ROOTS. Please consider supporting them any way you can!
